The chipmaker has posted strong gains over the past year. That rally has left the stock vulnerable to profit-taking as momentum cools.

The contrast between Micron’s weakness and stronger index futures suggests traders are reassessing the stock near key technical levels instead of aggressively buying the dip.

Micron remains under pressure in the near term.

The stock is trading 12.1% below its 20-day simple moving average of $911.69 and 17.0% below its 50-day simple moving average of $964.85. That keeps the intermediate trend pointed lower.

However, the longer-term picture remains constructive. Micron trades 9.5% above its 100-day simple moving average of $731.75 and 54.6% above its 200-day simple moving average of $518.10.

The 20-day moving average remains below the 50-day moving average, a bearish signal that reflects recent selling pressure. At the same time, the 50-day moving average remains above the 200-day moving average, indicating the broader uptrend is still intact.

Momentum indicators also point to caution. The MACD remains below its signal line, while the histogram is negative, showing that bullish momentum has weakened.

Resistance is near $818.50. Support sits around $652.00, with the 100-day moving average near $731.75 serving as an intermediate level to watch.

Micron is expected to report quarterly results on Sept. 22, 2026.

Wall Street expects earnings of $31.24 per share, up from $3.03 a year earlier. Revenue is projected to reach $50.72 billion, compared with $11.31 billion in the prior-year period.
